Product Description

PP boards, known for their durability, chemical resistance, and versatility, have gained traction in the construction industry as a cost-effective and functional alternative to traditional materials like wood, metal, or glass. In general, this material offers a practical, cost-efficient solution for specific construction needs, particularly where corrosion resistance, lightweight design, and ease of handling are prioritized.

Moisture Resistance

When PP boards (polypropylene boards) are used for building moisture-proofing, they achieve long-term protection through excellent chemical stability and extremely low water absorption. With a dense molecular structure, their water absorption rate at room temperature is only 0.01%-0.03%, far lower than that of wood (12%-18%) and ordinary plastic boards (0.5%-1%). They will not expand or deform due to moisture absorption or water contact, making them suitable for humid environments such as kitchens, bathrooms, and basements. Additionally, PP boards are acid and alkali resistant, salt spray resistant, and have a smooth surface that prevents mold growth, eliminating the need for additional anti-corrosion and anti-mildew treatments and reducing maintenance costs. Meanwhile, with a density of approximately 0.91g/cm³ (only 1/8 that of steel), PP boards are lightweight and can be joined by welding, bonding, or snap-fitting. The joints form a continuous waterproof barrier, avoiding the moisture-proof failure of traditional moisture-proof materials (such as moisture-proof paper and asphalt membranes) caused by joint cracking. Moreover, food-grade PP boards contain no formaldehyde or volatile harmful substances, allowing them to be directly used for moisture-proofing the base layers of interior walls and floors in residences, schools, hospitals, and other spaces with high environmental requirements.

Impact Resistance

In terms of building impact resistance, PP boards resist external damage relying on high toughness and strong impact strength. At room temperature, their elongation at break can reach 400%-600%. When impacted, they absorb energy through deformation instead of breaking directly. Compared with brittle materials like glass and ceramic tiles, even if subjected to heavy impact (such as falling construction tools or furniture collisions), PP boards may only have local depressions and are unlikely to suffer penetrating damage. Furthermore, modified PP boards can maintain stable impact resistance within the range of -20℃ to 80℃, making them suitable for cold northern regions or outdoor buildings (such as exterior wall protective panels and equipment room floors). In addition, the surface Rockwell hardness of PP boards reaches R80-R100, which can resist scratches caused by daily friction. Minor local damages can be quickly repaired by hot air welding or special repair agents without the need for overall replacement. Their lightweight feature also reduces the load on building structures, facilitates transportation and on-site installation, improves construction efficiency, and avoids installation safety risks caused by heavy materials.
