PP Boards Extensively Used In Laboratory For Excellent Chemical Stability

PP board (or PP sheet) is a plastic panel primarily made from polypropylene (abbreviated as PP). Our PP boards are lightweight yet durable, with high resistance to corrosion, acid and alkali, as well as moisture and mold-proof properties. PP sheets (polypropylene sheets) are well-suited to the complex and rigorous operating environment of laboratories due to their excellent chemical stability, hygienic safety, and processability, providing great convenience for experimental operations and facility maintenance.

PP Boards' Properties

In terms of chemical stability, PP sheets can resist corrosion from most common acid and alkali reagents (such as hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, sodium hydroxide, etc., at moderate concentrations) without dissolving, deforming, or reacting with reagents to release harmful substances. They are far superior to metal sheets and some plastic sheets that are prone to corrosion, ensuring the safety and accuracy of experimental processes. In terms of hygienic safety, food-contact-grade PP sheets have a smooth, non-porous surface that is not easy to adsorb dust, impurities, or microorganisms. They can also withstand high-temperature and high-pressure sterilization or repeated cleaning with common disinfectants such as ethanol and sodium hypochlorite, avoiding cross-contamination and meeting the high cleanliness requirements of laboratories. At the same time, PP sheets are lightweight (with a density of approximately 0.9g/cm³), exerting little pressure on load-bearing structures such as laboratory workbenches and cabinets. They are easy to cut, weld, and bend, allowing customization of components of different sizes and shapes according to experimental needs. Their convenient installation enables flexible adaptation to various laboratory layouts, reducing construction and renovation costs. Additionally, PP sheets possess a certain degree of impact resistance; in daily experimental operations, if instruments or reagent bottles collide slightly, the sheets are not easy to break, reducing potential safety hazards. They also resist aging during long-term use, resulting in low maintenance costs.

Specific Applications

In specific laboratory application scenarios, PP sheets have a wide range of functions. They can be used to make experimental workbenches, especially operating tables in chemical laboratories, which can directly come into contact with various reagents and are easy to clean. Even if reagents are spilled, the surface can be restored to cleanliness after wiping, preventing corrosion and damage to the workbench. They can also serve as lining panels for laboratory fume hoods, resisting corrosion from volatile corrosive gases inside the fume hoods and extending the service life of the fume hoods. In terms of equipment protection, PP sheets can wrap small laboratory instruments and equipment (such as pipette racks and reagent storage racks) or act as base protection panels for large equipment (such as centrifuges and incubators), preventing the equipment from being damp or contaminated by reagents while reducing the impact of equipment vibration on the surrounding environment during operation. In the field of functional zoning and partitioning, PP sheets can be used as internal partition walls in laboratories to divide different functional areas (such as sample processing areas, testing areas, and sterile areas). The smooth surface of the partitions is easy to clean and can effectively isolate dust and microorganisms, maintaining the cleanliness of each area. They can also be used to make the cabinets and cabinet doors of reagent storage cabinets, which are particularly suitable for storing acid and alkali reagents, preventing reagent leakage caused by cabinet corrosion. Furthermore, in biological laboratories, PP sheets can be used to make sample culture boxes and waste liquid collection tanks; their hygienic and safe properties ensure the cleanliness of the culture environment and the safety of the waste liquid collection process, reducing the risk of contamination.
